Wendy Halverson 2012
My husband, Alson Toavs, was an Evangelion Chorale member on their last trip. I was given the opportunity to sing for this tour as were his sister Rose Wald and cousin Doug Toavs, so we are making it a family affair in 2012! Another special connection is that the Ukraine is the homeland of their ancestors.
I have had the honor to be participate in the Twin Cities music community for over 30 years. This has included singing with the Macalester Festival Chorale, Dale Warland Symphonic Chorus, Minnesota Chorale, Augsburg Masterworks Chorale and Evangelion Chorale. I have also played (play) my trombone with the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band, Minneapolis Trombone Choir and Just Friends Big Band. It would be an amazing gift to keep playing and singing for another 30 years!
My start in music was in the Litchfield, MN public school system. We had strong vocal and instrumental programs under the direction of Bruce Christensen, Dennis Harms and Keith Johnson. I was fortunate to participate in the High School Musicians Project at the University of Minnesota and All-State Choir the summer of my junior year. In college I played with the Moorhead State Stage Band for one intense - but fun - year. I then transfer to the University of Minnesota and opted to work to pay my way through school and set music aside for a few years.
And lastly -something fun about me - umm. Cats and frogs are special to me. Enjoy photography. Am grateful for family, friends, health and kitchen gadgets!
